01Are your reports accepted by councils and water authorities?
Yes. Every inspection is coded to WSA 05:2020, the Conduit Inspection Reporting Code of Australia published by the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA), and produced in WinCan VX.
For new sewer reticulation being handed to a water service provider, reports are set out for handover under the South East Queensland Water Supply and Sewerage Design and Construction Code (SEQ Code). Civil stormwater sits outside that code and is assessed by the local council, so those reports are formatted to the receiving council's requirements instead.
02When in the program should we book the inspection?
The handover inspection is the one that has to happen, at practical completion, before the authority will accept the asset and start the maintenance period.
Where the program allows it, an earlier run before or just after backfill is worth doing. Deformation, displaced joints and debris are cheap to correct while the contractor is still mobilised and expensive once the surface is finished over the top.
03What pipe sizes can you inspect?
Our robotic crawlers inspect from 150 mm up through large-diameter trunk sewer and stormwater. Multiple crawler configurations mean the unit is matched to the pipe rather than one machine being pushed to cover everything.
Below 150 mm, send the details through and we will tell you upfront whether it suits our equipment. We would rather say so before you book than turn up and not be able to complete the works.
04How long does an inspection take, and when do we get the report?
It depends on the length of the network, the number of access points and whether the line needs cleaning first. A single stage is often a few hours. A full estate handover across multiple catchments can run several days.
The report is delivered within 24–48 hours of the inspection, by secure link or on USB. Where a job runs over multiple days we can issue by stage rather than holding everything to the end, so your document control is not waiting on the last run.
05What happens if the inspection finds defects before handover?
We record and code what is there, factually, and get it to you fast. What happens next is your call and the authority's, not ours.
Finding a defect at this point is the useful outcome. It is far cheaper to correct while the contractor is still on site and under contract than after the asset has been accepted. Where remediation is carried out, we re-inspect the affected sections and issue an updated report.
06Do you carry out the off maintenance re-inspection as well?
Yes, and it is worth using the same provider for both. When the off maintenance run is coded the same way against the same baseline, comparing the two sets is straightforward. When it is done by someone else in a different format, it turns into an argument about whether a defect is new.
We keep every job on file, so when the period closes out we already have the original run to compare against.
07Can you deliver in our document control format?
Usually, yes. Tell us before the job how you need it structured, whether that is a file naming convention, a split by stage, lot or catchment, or a particular folder layout for your document management system.
